    Battle of the Buffalo, an event that started in the lobby of the science building at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, hosted by a fraternity as a social gathering in remembrance of a fallen brother with less than 250 people in attendance in 2008, has since grown to be the South East’s largest wing festival. Why does it continue to grow? Simple; the cause.

    In 2007, the men of the Theta Pi chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity lost a brother to leukemia.

    UAH Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Donates 100 IPads for Patient’s use While Undergoing Treatment

    The UAH ATO fundraiser, 2015 Battle of the Buffalo, raised more than $19,000 for the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation. Battle of the Buffalo was started in the spring of 2009 in memory of their fraternity brother Paul “Fish” Salmon who passed away from leukemia in 2007.

    With the proceeds from this fundraiser Russel Hill Cancer Foundation purchased 100 Ipads for Cancer Patients to use while undergoing treatment at Clearview Cancer Institute.

    “These young men are truly amazing,” said Carol King of Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.

    Battle of the Buffalo Wing Festival – April 12th

    Calling all wing lovers! Battle of the Buffalo is the largest chicken wing festival in the area, held in Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 3 – 7 p.m..  The festival is held by the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity of UAHuntsville in memory of their lost brother, Paul “Fish” Salmon.  Over 20 restaurants in the Tennessee Valley area will compete for best wings.  Come out and cast your vote, along with community leaders, including Mayor Tommy Battle and Dr.

    UAH Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity Donates $20,000 to Cancer Research

    HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — A University of Alabama in Huntsville fraternity donated $20,000 to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation Friday to support cancer research following the death of a fraternity brother.

    Alpha Tau Omega member Paul Salmon died in March 2007 from leukemia. Since then, the Theta Pi chapter at UAH has dedicated their Battle of the Buffalo fundraiser to cancer research.

    “They are amazing. You”ve never met college kids like these,” said Donna Johnson, executive director of the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation.
