Making a difference in our local cancer community!

Who We Are

The Russel Hill Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Huntsville, Alabama.

Our Mission

We’re committed to improving the health of the North Alabama area through the support of bold, innovative cancer research, cancer education programs, and patient assistance.

Where we started

In May of 2006, a group of local oncologists, researchers, and concerned citizens met to discuss ways to better assist cancer patients, their families, and the community. Russel Hill Cancer Foundation was formed in the hopes to offer that support.

Stories of Impact

Our Focus

We believe in the idea of ‘live local, give local.’ Every dollar given to the Foundation goes directly back to cancer patients in North Alabama. We are proud to serve 22 counties in North Alabama, collaborate with more than 32 healthcare partners, and support numerous grant programs.

Since 2006, no eligible patient has been turned away due to lack of funds–thanks to the unwavering support of our community, donors, and supporters. Together, we are making an impact in the lives of those facing cancer.

Cancer is complicated, helping is not.

Patient Assistance

Patient assistance remains a top priority and the heart of our mission at Russel Hill. We want to focus on the day-to-day needs so that patients can focus on their cancer journey. Getting diagnosed with cancer can, at times, negatively affect one’s financial situation. To us, patient assistance is helping with the cost of transportation, medications, medical equipment, household supplies, groceries, rent or mortgage payments, utilities, and other various needs.

“I would like to send a big Thank You, from me and my husband, Phillip Wayne Haynes. Because of The Russell Hill program, our trips to Clearview were made easier. We didn’t know what to do and how to go about it. Thanks for the sweet ladies that ask if they could help. I had no idea help was possible. Money for gas was a big blessing. It is so nice to have that taken care of.”  – Johnelle Haynes

Cancer Education Programs

The Foundation is committed to supporting education opportunities for cancer patients and their families. This includes multiple patient support groups, programs at Clearview Cancer Institute such as Confidence with a ClearView and CLIMB®, quarterly oncology education fairs, informative events for medical personnel, and more.

Cancer Research

Cancer research programs are an integral part of the cancer community with researchers leading the way to the latest innovations in care. One day, we hope to see cancer eradicated, but until then, Russel Hill is proud to partner with local research groups.

“With Russel Hill’s research support, Clearview Cancer Institute is able to offer area patients access to new drugs years before they are FDA approved.”  – Dr. Marshall T. Schreeder, Oncologist, CCI
